Branding itself as a restaurant with Penang roots, Penang Seafood Restaurant serves a variety of popular Penang dishes. The popular ones among Singaporeans are the Penang Laksa and the Volcano Chicken (火山鸡), which is a dish served with some side vegetables and a roasted chicken that is set on flames right in front of the customers! Other popular local Zi Char dishes offered include Chili Crab and prawn rolls.
Penang Special
There is a section of the menu called Penang special, and as the name says, it is where you can find a list of authentic Penang dishes. The specialties include Penang Assam Laksa, Prawn noodles, Penang Fried Kway Teow and more! The dishes come in 2 to 3 sizes and the prices range from $4.80 to $10. For $10, you can get a large-size fried kway teow or fried beancurd which is rather reasonable given that customers reviewed that the portions are quite generous.
According to a review from popular food review website, Eatbook, the fried kway teow is filled with generous amounts of ingredients like eggs, beansprouts, squid and more. Eatbook also reviewed that the fried kway teow at Penang Seafood Restaurant is drier and lighter in colour than the ones commonly sold in Singapore.
You can enjoy dishes on the Penang Special section of the menu for as low as $4.80 for a bowl of Penang Assam Laksa. If you are sharing the dish with your friends or family, you can also opt for the medium or large sizes available.
Most customers who have left their food reviews on Penang Seafood Restaurant’s Facebook page have tried its Assam Laksa, Lala Prawn Noodles and Fried Kway Teow. These dishes are customer favourites so far and have been widely praised to taste authentic and delectable.
